ESP32 Marauder V8 Setup & User Guide
Documentation for ESP32 Marauder V8 featuring dual-band ESP32-C5, 2.8-inch touch display, GPS wardriving, and PCAP logging capabilities.

What you need
Before using the ESP32 Marauder V8, ensure you have the following items ready:
- ESP32 Marauder V8 hardware unit
- Dual-band high-gain WiFi antenna (included)
- GPS antenna (BT-230L2) (included)
- MicroSD card (FAT32 formatted, up to 32 GB)
- USB-C cable for power, charging, and serial terminal access
- 3.7V 18650 rechargeable battery (if operating off USB power)

Step 1 — Unbox
Unpack your kit and verify the components:
- 1 × Marauder V8 unit with protective enclosure
- 1 × Upgraded dual-band high-gain antenna
- 1 × GPS antenna (BT-230L2)
Note: Thread both the WiFi antenna and the GPS antenna onto the dual SMA female connectors prior to powering on the device to prevent damage to the RF front-end.

Step 2 — Power on
Insert your FAT32-formatted MicroSD card into the dedicated slot on the side of the device.
- If operating wirelessly, ensure an 18650 cell is correctly installed inside the battery holder.
- Connect a USB-C cable to supply power directly or charge the internal LiPo battery circuit.
- Flip the onboard power toggle switch to the ON position.
- The 2.8-inch 320×240 capacitive touch display will illuminate and show the system splash screen and menu.

Step 3 — Connect
The Marauder V8 supports standalone touch-screen execution as well as external serial control:
- Standalone Touch Control: Navigate menus, select scan modes, and toggle options directly using the 2.8-inch touch screen interface.
- Serial Command Line: Connect the device to a host PC using a USB-C cable. Open a serial terminal program set to
115200baud to transmit raw CLI commands and receive console logs.

Step 4 — First run
To run your first dual-band scan and log traffic:
- From the main display menu, tap WiFi and select Scan APs.
- The ESP32-C5 processor will scan both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz spectrums, populating discovered Access Points on screen.
- Return to the main menu and select GPS to check coordinate locking for wardriving operations.
- Enable Save PCAP from the capture menu to store raw wireless frames directly to the MicroSD card.

Tips
- GPS Performance: For optimal satellite tracking while wardriving, place the GPS antenna in an elevated position with a clear view of the sky.
- Firmware Updates: Flash updated firmware binaries directly over USB-C or load a compiled
.binfile onto the MicroSD card to update via the bootloader menu. - Power Monitoring: Keep an eye on the on-screen battery fuel gauge during extended field captures to avoid corruption during SD card writes.

Troubleshooting
Symptom Possible Cause Resolution Display does not turn on Depleted battery or power switch off Verify toggle switch position; attach USB-C power source.
